84 feet wide in the transept
150 feet twin towers capped with stone steeples and 7-foot Celtic crosses.
Located one block off the Olean city center, it is a towering edifice in the landscape for more than 100 years.
The exterior of the Church is constructed almost exclusively of white Pennsylvania Marble from quarries at West Grove, Pennsylvania. Pretty much everything inside is original to the church. Some elements even come from the old church built in 1860! St. Mary of the Angels has never removed anything of any significance from inside this church in more than 100 years of existence. This treasure has been attended to with renovation and restoration in mind in concert with new art and liturgical pieces. We do this not to preserve a museum, but to honor our heritage and the integrity of the architecture as we continue the conversation with our ancestors--enjoying the art that moved their spirit and reflected their faith-- as we go about our task today to live and nurture the Good News of Jesus Christ!
