Prayer is a conversation with God. Take some time to evaluate your prayer life. Is it intentional? Is it spontaneous? Is it a conversation of give and take? Is it consistent? Is it something turned to only when there is a crisis? Is there an aspect of listening?
Greetings to all! I would like to express my gratitude to our pastor, Fr. Christopher Emminger, and the entire staff at EMCC for the opportunity to minister as the new Director of Music, especially during this period of transition for the community. I, too, shall begin this season of my life anew, commencing on my exact 40th birthday, and living outside New York City full-time as I yet have never.
I would like to thank the entire EMCC for welcoming me, and I pray that I might fulfill my duties with zeal, temperance and humility.
Alex Violette
Director of Music, Organist & Cantor
I have heard at various times in my life references to “CANON LAW!” Hearing the phrasing, “Well, according to Canon Law…” makes me, a faithful Catholic, intuitively know that whatever is going on is not up for negotiation; somewhere there is a definitive stance that the Catholic Church adheres to. So what is Canon Law? Does it have Canon Police to apprehend those who break Canon Law? (no) Does it have Canon Jails and Courts in which to hold and try those apprehended? (no and yes) Are there Canon Lawyers to see these trials through? (YES!)
