Louis Zamparini, subject of the movie and best-selling book, Unbroken, died at age 97 shortly after being named grand marshal of the New Year’s Day Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, Calif. His family took his place and invited James Bardonette to ride in the Rose Bowl parade with them as representative of the famous war hero's home town. Zamparini was baptized at St. Mary's on April 1, 1917.
