Trinity United Methodist Pastor to speak at St. Mary's

In an effort to build a stronger bond among the Chirstian churches, St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church has invited Rev. Lamont Higginbottom from Trinity United Methodist Church to share a message at the Catholic parish’s 11:00 am Mass on Sunday, July 17.
“When Rev. Higginbottom arrived in the community several months ago, he asked to meet our congregation in this way,” said Very Rev. Gregory Dobson, VF, pastor of St. Mary of the Angels. The St. Mary’s pastor announced this invitation to speak during his remarks as one of the recipients of the Ecumen Award in January as the Greater Olean Association of Churches celebrated Christian Unity Sunday.
“This is a hospitable and Catholic way to build upon our commitment to try to create unity among our churches,” Rev. Dobson said, adding that this is a goal of the member churches in the GOAC.
Rev. Dobson, a long-time member and past president of GOAC, said he plans to speak first during the Mass with a homily about Martha and Mary as Catholic prototypes. Rev. Higginbottom, who has invited his congregation to St. Mary’s on Sunday, will follow with his message to the congregation.
