Weekend of February 6-7, Fr. John and Fr. David blessed prayer shawls, baby blankets and hats, mittens and more at both linked parishes. These items are made by The Work of Our Hands Ministry based in St. Philomena’s Parish.
Love of knitting, crocheting, and sewing has been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. Many blessings are crafted into each item. Crafters pray while they create the item. When the craft is complete, it is offered a final blessing before being sent along its way. Gifted with these crafts, the recipient continues to be prayed for by the crafters. Some recipients have been so inspired by the gift that they continue the ripple effect of kindness and create a gift for someone in need. Thus the unconditional embrace and love of a healing and loving God continues.
Gifts and prayers minister to others in many ways: Medical procedures; comfort after a loss; bereavement; time for prayer and meditation; birthing; nursing; long-term illness and recovery The possibilities are endless!
Blessed comfort craft items gifted by St. Philomena are available free of charge at the SMA Parish Office.
